The certified fibre network infrastructure technician primarily focuses on fibre optic installation, both internal and external. COFNII has aligned this to a level 2/3 vocational award, ensuring they meet the awarding organisation’s requirements. It is not mapped to any non-vocational award. This provides the right level of due diligence has been met at a training centre.
Its role is associated with installing fibre optic cables, terminating and splicing, and following industry standards, including colour codes; technicians should be proficient in link loss calculations, splicing and basic fault finding and testing.
